Change from cash to points and back again. And take your earned rewards with you.

The Chase FreedomSM credit card is the only rewards card that lets you change your cash to points and back again without any penalties or loss of rewards. So feel free to choose cash or points — and feel free to change your mind.

You'll earn a 3% cash back rebate or 3 points for every $1 in eligible purchases made in the top three bonus categories where you spend the most. The bonus categories are: grocery stores, gas & convenience stores, quick service payment/fast food restaurants, telecommunications, cable/satellite TV/Internet service providers, video rentals, department stores, dry cleaners, drugstores, movie theatres, local and suburban commuter passenger transportation, pet supply stores and veterinary services, utilities, beauty shops (salons and spas) and gym/recreation memberships. Following are additional details.

  • You will earn a 1% base rebate or 1 base point for each $1 of net purchases.
  • Each billing cycle, in addition to the base reward you will also earn an additional 2% bonus rebate or 2 bonus points for each $1 of eligible net purchases made at merchant locations in the 3 bonus categories where you have spent the most. Retail establishments must classify their merchant location for Visa/MasterCard as one of the following bonus categories: grocery stores (that are not affiliated with or departments of superstores, warehouse clubs or discount stores), gas & convenience stores, quick service payment/fast food restaurants, telecommunications, cable/satellite TV/Internet service providers, video rentals, department stores, dry cleaners, drugstores, movie theatres, local and suburban commuter passenger transportation (including ferries, bridges, tolls, parking garages, taxis/limos), pet supply stores and veterinary services, utilities, beauty shops (salons and spas), or gym/recreation memberships.
  • When you reach $600 in spending in the bonus categories, you will only earn the 1% base rebate or 1 base point for each additional $1 of net purchases in these categories. The top bonus categories earning a 2% bonus rebate or 2 bonus points will vary monthly depending on your spending habits.
  • Purchases not eligible to receive the 2% bonus rebate or 2 bonus points include, but are not limited to, purchases made at superstores, warehouse clubs and discount stores. Online and catalog purchases are not eligible to receive the 2% bonus rebate or the bonus points unless the merchants have correctly identified and billed the transactions.
  • We do not determine whether merchants correctly identify and bill transactions as being made in each particular category.
  • We do reserve the right to determine which purchases qualify for the 2% bonus rebate or 2 bonus points.
  • You do not earn rebates or points on balance transfers, cash advances, any checks that are used to access your account, travelers checks, overdraft advances, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, or fees of any kind, including fees for products that protect or insure the balances of your account.
  • There is no maximum amount of base rebates or base points that can be earned on net purchases. Maximum bonus rebate accumulation per billing cycle on net purchases is $12 in bonus rebates or 1,200 points monthly, which equates to $600 in net purchases.
  • There are other rewards terms and conditions; please refer to the Rewards Program Rules and Regulations mailed to you when your account was established.

Travel awards are subject to program restrictions, including 21 day advance ticketing and Saturday night stay for air travel. A service fee of up to $25.00 may be charged for the use of Reward Headquarters services for redemption of air travel.

If you choose to change how you earn rewards once you become a cardmember, and you are earning your rewards as rebates, your rebates will be converted to points at a rate of $0.01 to 1 point. For example, $5 in rebates will transfer to 500 points. If you are earning your rewards as points, your points will be transferred to the cash back program at a rate of 1 point to $0.01. For example, 500 points will transfer to $5 in rebates. You may redeem under your new program after your next billing statement closing date. You may change once during a billing cycle. After a change, new Rewards Program Rules and Regulations will be mailed to you.
